A close-up shows the damage. A wider photograph shows what surrounds it.
For a glass repair enquiry, both can be useful. The panel, frame and access help explain the job before a glazier visits.
If the glass is unsafe or the property cannot be secured, call First Glass on 07 571 1336. Confirm availability and charges. Do not delay an urgent call while trying to collect photographs.
For a non-urgent enquiry, these three views are a useful starting point.
1. Show the whole window or door
If you can do so safely, stand back far enough to include the panel and its frame.
A tight photograph of a crack can leave out whether the damage is in a small window, a door panel or part of a larger assembly. The wider view helps us understand which part you need repaired.
If there are several panels, describe which one is damaged. You do not need to touch the glass or remove anything to show us.
2. Show the damage from a safe position
Take a second photograph that makes the affected area visible. Use your camera’s zoom if it helps you stay clear.
Do not move loose glass, press on a cracked pane or reach through an opening. Do not climb to get the picture. If you cannot photograph it safely, describe what you can see and call for advice.
Tell us if the issue is broken glass, a crack or misting between panes. If you do not know the glass type, leave that for us to assess.
3. Show how the window is reached
A ground-floor panel beside a clear path and an upstairs window above a deck can involve different access.
From a safe place, show the surroundings. Mention the floor level and anything that may affect access, such as a locked gate or restricted space. Keep people and pets away from the damaged area.
This is information for the enquiry. It does not require you to arrange access equipment or work near the glass.
Add the details the photograph cannot show
Include your address or suburb, a contact number and which panel needs attention. Tell us whether the issue is urgent and when you noticed it. Add approximate dimensions only if they are already known or can be obtained safely.
Photos can help us discuss the repair. They cannot confirm every glass specification or replace a site assessment when one is needed. Some replacement glass requires fabrication, and timing depends on the job.
For urgent repairs, call 07 571 1336 and confirm availability and charges.
