Double Glazing

Double glazing repairs and upgrades in Tauranga, Mount Maunganui and Papamoa.

Foggy, failed or broken sealed units replaced in windows that are already double glazed. Single glazing upgraded to double by replacing the whole window with new joinery. We do not fit double-glazed units into existing single-glazed frames.

Double glazing, the two jobs we do

All replacement glass meets NZ safety standards (AS/NZS 2208).

Repair, replace or upgrade

Double glazing work in Tauranga falls into two jobs, and it helps to know which one you have before you call.

Already double glazed, and a unit has failed. Mist or fog between the panes means the seal on that sealed unit has gone. The unit cannot be resealed, so we replace it. Where the existing frame and glazing system are suitable, the new unit goes into the joinery you already have. We assess the frame first, then measure and order the replacement unit. The same applies to a double-glazed unit that has been cracked or smashed.

Single glazed, and you want double. We do this by replacing the whole window: new joinery made for double-glazed units, with the glass fitted as part of it. We do not fit a double-glazed unit into an existing single-glazed timber or aluminium frame. That retrofit approach is the one thing we do not offer.

Not sure which you have? Send a photo of the whole window, inside and out, and tell us what you are seeing. For more on failed seals and when a unit needs replacing, read our guide to double glazing repair in Tauranga.

No. Fitting a double-glazed unit into an existing single-glazed timber or aluminium frame is the one job we do not do. If you want double glazing in a single-glazed window, we replace the window.

Wipe both surfaces of the glass. If the mist clears, it is surface condensation. If it stays, it is between the panes and the seal has failed.
