Understand the glass work

The glass type and movement of the panel affect the installation. Toughened glass cannot have a new hole cut into it after toughening. Double glazing needs assessment for a replacement sealed unit.

Replacing a flap or fitting a first door?

Existing pet door

Send a photo of the flap, frame and surrounding glass. Include its model if visible.

A replacement door may need a different opening and new glass.

New installation

A basic cat door supplied and fitted into suitable existing single glazing (not toughened or laminated) starts from $170.

Microchip models, dog doors and jobs needing new glass are quoted separately.

When new glass is needed

Toughened glass needs a new panel made with the opening before toughening. Double glazing needs a replacement sealed unit.

We fit the pet door into the suitable existing panel or the new glass. Timing depends on the glass type, fabrication and installation availability.

Common Questions

A basic cat door supplied and fitted into suitable existing single glazing (not toughened or laminated) starts from $170. Microchip models, dog doors, toughened glass and new sealed units are quoted separately. You get a firm price before any work begins.

Yes. This is our most common pet door installation. For suitable existing single glazing (not toughened or laminated), the hole can be cut while the glass remains in place. Toughened glass and sealed units need replacement glass made with an opening.

Toughened glass needs a new panel made with the opening before toughening. For an existing double-glazed window or door, we assess the frame and arrange a replacement sealed unit made with the opening. These jobs are quoted separately.

Yes. We supply and install SureFlap microchip doors for cats and small dogs. They read a compatible microchip already implanted in your pet, or a compatible SureFlap collar tag. SureFlap uses batteries. Pet-Tek’s magnetic cat door is a separate, battery-free option operated by a collar magnet. We confirm compatibility, size and glass requirements with your quote.

We do not supply microchip doors for large dogs. If you have bought one, enquire about installation. Send the brand, model, fitting instructions and a photo of your glass so we can assess it. SureFlap suits cats and small dogs.

Yes. We supply and install pet doors into timber doors if required.

Pet-Tek lists a three-year manufacturer warranty for defects in materials or manufacture. Accidental damage, misuse and normal wear are excluded, and proof of purchase is required. Ask us for the terms for your chosen model. Microchip products have their own model-specific terms.
