Can You Actually Fit a Cat Door in a Glass Door?
Yes, but you cannot drill into toughened glass after it has been made. Toughened safety glass will shatter if cut or drilled once tempered. The way around this is straightforward: we cut a new pane of glass with the pet door aperture already cut into it before toughening, then install the new pane in place of your existing glass.
The result is a clean, factory-finished opening with no rough edges, not a retrofit hole drilled into existing glass.
What About Double Glazed Doors?
Double glazed doors are more complex but still very achievable. We replace the inner pane only, keeping the outer pane intact, or replace the full double glazed unit with a new unit that has the pet door aperture built in. This maintains the thermal performance of your double glazed while giving your cat the access they need.
